Water Activities in Luxembourg
From tranquil lakes to thrilling watersports
When thinking of Luxembourg, water activities might not be the first thing that comes to mind. Yet with its varied lakes and rivers, Luxembourg offers plenty of options for water recreation and watersports. Whether you’re after relaxation or seeking thrills, you’ll find it here. Go canoeing or kayaking on the Sûre river. Enjoy swimming, diving, surfing or sailing on the Upper-Sûre Lake. Or try paddle boating and stand-up paddleboarding on the scenic Echternach Lake, which is also a great spot for fishing. Adrenaline junkies can head to Ski Nautique Grevenmacher for wakeboarding and wakesurfing on the Moselle, Luxembourg’s natural border with Germany.
Pedal boating and sup
You can go pedal boating on Lake Echternach, an artificial recreational lake of over 30 hectares, located south of the town of Echternach.
Wakeboarding and wakesurfing
Wakeboarding and wakesurfing are among the most spectacular activities you can do on the water.
Canoeing & Kayaking
One of the most beautiful regions for canoeing or kayaking is the Mullerthal. In the village of Dillingen, located in the municipality of Beaufort on the banks of the Sûre River, you can rent a canoe or kayak. From there, you paddle 14 km along the Sûre to the town of Echternach, in the canton of the same name – Luxembourg’s oldest town. The trip to Echternach takes approximately three hours.
Upper Sûre Lake
The Upper Sûre Lake (or Haute-Sûre), located about a 30-minute drive from La Sapinière, is a hotspot for various water sports activities.
