Do you love fishing? As an ardent angler, you can cast your rod to your heart’s content during your fishing adventure in Luxembourg. The rivers along the border with Germany, such as the Moselle, the Sûre and the Our, are popular fishing locations. Fishing is only permitted here if you have a fishing permit.
Besides these rivers along the border, the lakes in Luxembourg are also popular with anglers. Lake Echternach could well be the best fishing site for both sporting and recreational anglers. It is the largest fishing lake in the region and has a highly diverse fish population.
Please note that you need a separate fishing permit to cast your rod in Lake Echternach. You can ask for a day permit if you only fish occasionally. If you are planning to go fishing on the lake more frequently, you may be interested in an annual pass.
Make sure to check the fishing regulations that apply at the different fishing locations in advance. You can find the rules for Lake Echternach here. You can only keep any sheatfish, rock-bass and bream that you catch and have to return other fish species to the lake. There are also restrictions on how much fish you can catch of each variety.
