You can hire pedal boards to use on Lake Echternach, a man-made recreational lake over 30 hectares in size, situated south of the town of Echternach. Besides going out in pedal boats, you can also go SUP boarding, also known as stand-up paddle boarding. It is important to know that swimming in Lake Echternach is prohibited.
You can hire pedal boats and SUP boards at de grénge Schapp, to the east of the lake. This bistro is a great place to go to for a drink and a bite to eat. You can also build your own burger here and a vegan variant is also available.
It takes a little over 45 minutes to drive from our holiday park to Lake Echternach. Park your car free of charge in the large car park near the entrance to the recreation area. From here, it’s a 400-metre walk to the rental outlet.
Lake Echternach is surrounded by around 375 hectares of forest, with various signposted hiking trails. Close to the lake, you will also find a Roman villa, which is one of the most important structures from the Roman era north of the Alps. Although only the pillars are still standing, this villa is certainly worth a visit.
