Vianden Castle

Iconic castle above a charming town in the Luxembourg Ardennes

With its picturesque location above Vianden, this castle is considered one of the most beautiful in Europe. The combination of Romanesque and Gothic architecture makes it an impressive landmark.

Built between the 11th and 14th century, it served not only as a defensive fortress, but also as a luxurious residence for the Counts of Vianden.

The castle was constructed on the remains of a Roman fort and grew into one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Europe.

After a period of decline in the 19th century, it has been fully restored since 1977 and is once again open to visitors.
