Shopping in Luxembourg City

Do you adore shopping and want to combine it with a bit of culture? It takes around 50 minutes to drive to the capital from La Sapinière. In the largely car-free compact shopping centre of Luxembourg City, you can shop to your heart’s content.

The biggest and best-known shopping street in the capital is Rue de Capucins. Here, and in the adjacent Grand Rue, you’ll find several exclusive boutiques and designer stores, as well as branches of the larger fashion chains. In addition to the many fashion stores, you’ll also find many jewellery stores.

There are also several indoor shopping centres in the capital city. Such as La Belle Etoile with its many international fashion stores. Or the chic Cloche d’Or shopping centre where you’ll find both well-known and more exclusive brands.

Not surprisingly, Luxembourg City is also the country’s culinary capital. Thanks to its cosmopolitan character, the city has a variety of international restaurants. French and Italian cuisine may be more than amply represented, but African, Arab and Asian culinary traditions are also very much kept alive.

In addition to its many restaurants, the city also offers a wide variety of informal places for a drink and a bite to eat. From trendy bars to traditional pubs and from French bistros to German-inspired brasseries.

A visit to Luxembourg City is not complete without a tour of the cultural hotspots. Although you can experience local culture just by strolling along the Rue de Capucins and Grand Rue, with their historic shopfronts. If there’s one thing you shouldn’t miss during your visit to the city, it’s the Chemin de la Corniche. This pedestrian promenade along the 17th-century rampart offers you a panoramic view of the river valley and numerous historic structures.
