Planning a day out with the kids? Parc Merveilleux is an amusement park and zoo in Bettembourg, just an hour’s drive from La Sapinière. It’s an ideal destination for a great day out with young kids. Besides the zoo, the park also has a petting farm, various rides and play areas, a fairytale forest and a mini-golf course. In short, there is plenty to do and see.
Did you know that Parc Merveilleux is the only zoo in the whole of Luxembourg? You might also be interested to know that the park was founded in 1956 by Willem ter Braake, a Dutch landscape architect.
The zoo is divided into several areas: Africa (with its Madagascar house), America (with its Amazonia tropical house), Australia, and Asia & Europe, which you can explore while walking around the park. Animals that you’ll encounter include meerkats, flamingos, parrots, monkeys, prairie dogs, dingoes, wolves and antelopes.
For a drink and a bite to eat, choose from the à la carte restaurant with over 400 seats, the self-service cafeteria or various other food kiosks spread out across the park.
